In
KL we stayed at Alex’s Guesthouse, which we had found online and booked ahead
of time. The owner, Alex, has an extra home which he keeps as a guesthouse. It
was in a very convenient area…literally right next to the train station, and
only 2 stops away from KL. Plus, Alex was so friendly and made sure to sit
down, have coffee and chat with us for at least an hour or two each day. We
stayed there for 4 nights. It was very comfortable and we practically had the
entire upstairs to ourselves. We had a very big room with 2 twin beds, a hot
shower, closet and a kitchen and TV. The atmosphere was very clean,
comfortable, safe and felt just like home. I would
definitely recommend staying there if you plan on visiting KL. It was also great
since we were able to learn a lot from Alex about Malaysian culture and the
Muslim religion

I stayed at
Alex’s Guesthouse for two nights recently on a visit to Kuala Lumpur. I must say I was really
impressed with his hospitality, earnestness, knowledge and warmth. First of all
he was a most gracious host by waiting up for us till three in the morning
because our flight arrived late. Upon arrival we were shown to our room which
was large, clean and well kept. To me these are the hallmarks of a good
guesthouse. The room was perfect - A/C, hot & cold running water, TV and
fridge with a wide assortment of the most delicious Malaysian juices. Another
attractive aspect of his guesthouse is the location – Seputeh which is just 20 second
walking time from the metro rail station and is just two stops away from KL Sentral which is the station hub and
a good starting point for any tourist activity. Alex’s knowledge of KL and
advice on the most apt places to see helped us get around precisely and without
fumbling. This ensured that we maximized our limited time over there. The best
thing about his guesthouse is that you meet a lot of other interesting people
from other counties with whom you may strike up a friendship as I did. Alex
also arranged an early (4 AM) taxi in the morning to leave to the airport and
ensured that all was fine. It is quite rare that you meet people who are so
inclined towards putting in a deep personal effort. I most definitely recommend
Alex’s guesthouse to folks traveling to KL for a comfortable and enjoyable trip. You will get
nothing but the best from Alex whom I now consider to be a good friend.

It
was nice meeting you in KL and I really enjoy our conversations and all the chattings with your guests. My flight was smooth and
everything was fine on my return trip.
Hope
you all good and I will catch you up next time I bring my wife to KL!

As
promised, I'm enclosing the pics taken on the lunch trip to the Hindu
restaurant. We found the experience to be quite enjoyable and memorable, as
neither of us had ever had Hindu food or eaten on banana leaves! Thank you for
the treat. We found our stay at your guest house
very comfortable and just wanted to let you know that it was a pleasure getting
to know you Rani and Alex and we also appreciated
the tourist information provided, not to mention, the brochures and maps
available which turned out to be very helpful in finding our way
around KL. We were sorry we didn't get a chance to say goodbye to
Alex before we left as he was away. We just hope he enjoyed his vacation
with the family in Pangkor. We hope to
return again during our future visits to KL and we hope that rooms would be
available!

Having
never lived away from home before, finding a comfortable, safe place to live in
a foreign country was my priority upon arriving in Malaysia. After viewing numerous rooms and apartments
that were within my price range but totally inappropriate, I was sure I’d be
heading back to South
Africa sooner than expected. Thankfully, I found Mr. Alex’s advertisement
in a local newspaper, and upon viewing the room, immediately decided that it
was perfect for me. Mr. Alex’s homestay has since become my home away from home, and the
value of the convenience, safety, and comfort far exceed the price I pay every
month. The greatest aspect of living
there is undoubtedly the wonderful atmosphere that is always present in the
house, and the opportunity to meet people from so many walks of life. I’ve made some wonderful friends, and I’ll
definitely be missing my Malaysian home once I’m back in South
Africa.
Thanks go to Mr. Alex, for his friendliness, helpful nature and
wonderful hospitality!

We
just wanted to pass on to you a few words about our recent and very enjoyable
stay at your Homestay. As you know, we located it
whilst searching on the internet for somewhere to stay for a few days in KL.
What we found was a place ideally located for our purposes with Seputeh KTM railway station just a minute away and only two
stops from KL Sentral. We appreciated the cleanliness
of the Homestay, the roomy kitchen and laundry
facilities and the amenity/comfort of our double room with air con, ensuite shower and toilet. Access to the on-site internet
was useful as we could easily stay in touch with family, although it
appears Malaysia
still has some way to go before matching the internet broadband speeds we are
used to here in Australia!
Seputeh itself is a very pleasant
residential neighbourhood and well worth a stroll
around. We especially enjoyed our early regular 'roti'
breakfasts and tea at the Indian cafe just across from the playground, along
with a leisurely read of the morning paper.
It would also be
very remiss of us not to mention our very obliging and helpful host - that's
you Alex. We enjoyed our wide ranging chats in front of the TV of an evening
and especially appreciated your help in solving our transport problem at such
an early hour on the morning of our last day.
All the best,
Alex, with your numerous endeavours. We look forward to a repeat
stay when next we visit KL. Thank you again for your hospitality.

Being
an ex KL citizen, i am most happy to have found a
place i would call "Home away from
Home". We spent 3 weeks in Alex's Homestay,
and found that this is one of the most convenient places in KL (for those
depend on public transport), not to mention our friendly host! Shopping? just walk for 10 minutes (fast) or 15 minutes (slow) to the
big mega mall. If you are tired of walking to the mall, you can always
take a train. Food? lots
of choices in the mall... To KL downtown? Train
station is just stone-throw away and cost you RM 1.00
The homestay facilities were good - free coffee and
most of all good shower provided in the room (the
shower is better than some of the hotels i had
stayed). Oh by the way, if you behave yourself, you might get a free lunch from
our good host!
Even my KL
friends and relatives were impressed with the homestay
when they visited me.
We will
definitely stay at the homestay again when we come
back to KL!

It
was wonderful experience that i had with you during my two week stay at
your homestay and find
it very easy to mingle with the local with wide
choice of rich multi culture food which i had never tried during my visits, above all its good for people who want to live along with
multicultural n want to know the real malaysia,
Well above all I felt like i was at home so keep it up Mr. Alex n hope to see you soon.

Thank you
very much for a lovely stay. We will certainly be staying again if we return
and will recommend your place to anyone going to K.L.
The best thing was that it didn’t
feel like we were in a hotel but very much like home. My son Ahmed didn’t want
to go back to England he wanted to go back to " Alex
Guesthouse"! My aunt said she didn’t like any of the hotels we stayed at and
just wanted to get back to the guesthouse!
